The Open Mind Is Better Than The Vulnerable One
There are times when I realize that the smaller a group is the higher the chance is for indoctrination. In Botswana our demographics stand at 2.021 million which show how small a community we are compared to the population of a country such as South Africa of 52.98 million people. Although we have made strides that even South Africa finds hard to catch up to such as having a stronger economy, being more politically stable and more peaceful, we face a looming internal struggle. We are too vulnerable to one another and dangerous attitudes.
We automatically mimic the attitudes that we are most conditioned by, whether its a group, or friendship, or work. We assimilate the beliefs of others because we lack diversity in perspective. It is not that we are not capable of being ourselves it's that we seek the approval of others and that in itself changes us. People who work in the corporate world often adopt the interests and beliefs by those within the corporate world much like artists adapt the mentality and interests of other artists.
We need to transform our character, condition, and function as Batswana. We need to understand that the ideologies of others, although fulfilling their purpose of discipline need not always apply to us. We mark our own destinies with our own ideologies and characteristics.
